San Jose del Cabo is a delightful Mexican town with a pretty colonial Centro, about 15-20 minutes walk from Cielito. It is much quieter than Cabo San Lucas and doesn’t have the masses of college kids and other revelers. Time share people generally do not approach you when walking around town. It is so enjoyable to stroll around the old center and scope out nice restaurants, happy hour specials, jewelry stores, artisan Talavera items and more. There are numerous agencies offering adventure tours, zip lines, beachside horse rides, whale watching, jet skiing, EcoTourism, etc. around the main square.
About 15 minutes walk south from Cielito you have a beach area with fine sand and sparkling blue water. A ten minute walk also brings you to the edge of San Jose’s famed Estuary, a protected nature preserve with enjoyable walks. A short walk to the west of Cielito, you will find grocery shopping, sushi, ATM, Walmart, hair salons medical facilities and San Jose’s main cinema.
We have found San Jose del Cabo to be one of the nicest places to stay in Mexico, and invite you to share our enjoyment of this town in our lovely home. Please note that unless you are actively engaged in the illegal drug trade, San Jose and Baja California are deemed to be very safe travel destinations. In our many years of traveling here, we have never experienced an “uncomfortable” moment.

Thanks Ted, for a wonderful stay! The penthouse was just perfect for our needs, and I especially enjoyed the nice kitchen and the rooftop grilling. We loved the charming old center, and the kids really enjoyed the beach nearby.
